GBC Uniiq Fm’s Kwame Insaidoo, has described his award as Radio Mid-Morning Show personality of the year, as a reward for his good work in the radio industry over the years.
He said has worked tirelessly to give his listeners the best radio experience, adding being an on air radio presenter is not about “noise making” but being professional at all times.
Speaking to GBCGHANAONLINE, Mr. Insaidoo, who said his journey in the media industry has been a long one stated, the recognition did not come to him as a surprise.
“It’s been a very long story, but for the fact that I’m a GBC trained broadcaster, I believe in decency and decorum, it’s not about noise making and some of us have worked tirelessly to make sure we give listeners and audience the best in media and so when it came for me, it was not a surprise, but I thought and believe it was a reward for good work over the years.
The Syntax Ghana Media Personality Awards is an annual event that recognizes outstanding personalities in the media industry. This year’s event came off on Saturday, 16 July 2023, in Accra.
Mr. Insaidoo, said he will leverage on the award, which is his first in the Ghanaian media industry to promote decency and decorum on radio. This he noted are the hallmarks of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
“My award is for decency and decorum. In GBC, we do stories, we do presentation and we are reference point in the world for media practice. So what I will say is let’s learn from GBC”
Mr. Insaidoo, was unhappy that the Ghanaian media has not diversified content to give its audiences varied preferences. He called on practitioners to rise to the occasion to ensure its numerous audiences have the best of experience.

“We have not done a lot for our audience in Ghana. We don’t give listeners variety. They tune in to station A, B, C, D and they are playing the same songs, saying the same things. It’s hard time we diversify and create something that will give listeners the alternatives to listen to A or B or C, somewhere. We need to rise to aspire to greater height” .
Kwame Insaidoo is a seasoned broadcaster with decades of rich radio experience in the industry. He is a founding father of GBC’s first FM stereo station in Sekondi-Takoradi’s Twin City Fm (94.7), in 1995. He is currently a senior manager at GBC and a prominent voice on the mid-morning show on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Uniiq FM.
Mr. Insaidoo was in contention with names like Ohemaa Woyeje, Richard Osei Poku, DJ Obofour, Sokoo Hemaa, among other personalities.
Mr. Insaidoo, popularly known as Kwame Uniqq, expressed appreciation to his employer the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, for contributing immensely to shaping his career.
