Ten police officers who went to court to challenge their transfer orders issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, have officially withdrawn their case.
The officers informed the court of their decision but maintained the right to refile the case in the future if necessary.
Initially, the officers claimed they were instructed by Deputy IGP, Mr. Christian Yohonu, to disregard the transfer order. They argued that the directive was arbitrary, lacked proper justification, and disrupted their professional stability.
The group, led by Sergeant David Ojeyim, included Sergeant Prince Owusu Fayosey, Sergeant Seidu Essilfie, Sergeant Alex Abah, Corporal John Yao Adzimagbor, Corporal Michael Kwasi Avuyi, Corporal Huudu Muhammed Wumbe, Corporal Kabiru Mohammed, Corporal Hannah Antwi-Boasiako, and IC/Inspector Alexander Odoi.
The officers had also raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the transfer process, calling for accountability from the Police Administration.
With the withdrawal of the lawsuit, the legal challenge against the transfer orders has come to an end, at least for now.
