Ghanaian musician, Ras Kuuku, popularly known as the Ghetto Youth President has described the ongoing social media toy guns challenge in Kumasi as infantile and dangerous.
He stated in an interview on the 3FM Drive Time show on Tuesday 26th November, 2024 that brandishing toy guns could be a recipe for disaster because certain unscrupulous individuals may take undue advantage of it to rob and maim people.
“You see that gun challenge going on? I want to let the people know they shouldn’t play with the thing, and nobody should support that. Anything that involves guns must be looked at with great caution. That is why our forefathers said the inside of a gun is dark,” Ras Kuuku stressed.
Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service in a press statement has disclosed that some 26 individuals have been arrested in connection with toy-guns related crimes and for brandishing and recklessly firing toy guns in public places thereby causing insecurity.
The police statement further assured the public of their unrelenting efforts to maintain peace and security in the country.
“We would once again like to assure the public that the police will do all that it takes for our beloved country to continue to be at peace with herself” the police assured.
The suspects are assisting the police with investigations and awaiting prosecution in the court of law.
