Kumasi Mayor, Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang has disclosed why he will flog Kumasi traders with his men.
Speaking during an interview on Angel FM monitored by Gh Page, the Kumasi Mayor disclosed that he has used all lenient means to ensure Kumasi is a clean place but to no avail.
According to him, he tried to use the legal way to ensure people who make Kumasi dirty are made to face some consequences, however, it looks like all the market men and women are connected to chiefs and sub-chiefs.
He disclosed that anytime someone was made to face the consequences of their actions, a chief or sub-chief from nowhere came to apologize on the person’s behalf.
Secondly, he stated that market men and women who made Kumasi dirty were made to pay fines and that one too couldn’t work.
According to him, the traders that sell in the middle of the streets make a lot of money from selling there, hence, when you tell them to pay a fine, they will do so without hesitation.
The Kumasi Mayor claims because the traders make so much money, and paying the fine is not that huge to them, they pay and the next day repeat the same mistakes.
He disclosed that the traders that sell in the middle of the street could make 7k Cedis a day from just selling.
