Ghana defender Baba Abdul Rahman has insisted that the Black Stars remain focused and united despite coming under criticism following their 1-1 draw against Wales in an international friendly.
The PAOK left-back recently returned to the national team after almost three years in the international wilderness and is part of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
Rahman was introduced late in the game, coming on for Gideon Mensah in the final five minutes as Ghana looked to hold on for victory in Cardiff.
However, the Black Stars conceded a late equaliser through Wales forward Lewis Koumas, but was set up by Neco Williams, with some section of supporters questioning Rahman’s involvement in the build-up to the goal.
Despite the scrutiny, the experienced defender responded with a message of unity and resilience on social media after the match.
“Gutted we could not get the win last night, but this is a marathon not a sprint. We will get there. This group will give everything for this precious shirt. God bless our homeland Ghana. NawuniGhafar,” Rahman wrote.
His message has been widely interpreted as a call for patience and togetherness as Ghana continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars are expected to use their final friendly against Jamaica on June 10 and are already headed to North America for the tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
