Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to constructing a sea defence wall for Tema to safeguard the community from coastal erosion.

Speaking at the Greater Accra regional town hall meetings and exhibitions on Tuesday, Glover addressed residents’ concerns about the impact of the Meridian Port Services (MPS) construction on the area.

Glover acknowledged the threats facing Tema, stating, “As I speak now, Tema is under threat because of the construction of the MPS.”

He reported recent discussions with the Tema Traditional Council, highlighting the region’s urgent need for government intervention.

Glover added, “I went to present food items to the Tema Traditional Council yesterday, and they stressed that the government needs to address the situation in Tema.”

He assured residents that the government is committed to addressing the issue and will take serious measures to ensure Tema’s safety.

“I can assure you that the government will take action.

I will ensure that support is provided to ensure Tema is safe,” Glover promised.

The town hall meetings and exhibitions are part of a Ministry of Information initiative to enhance citizen engagement and promote inclusive governance.

The “Regional Revitalisation: Government’s Commitment to Growth, Development and Prosperity” event is designed to provide real-time updates on government projects and achievements.

Minister for Information Fatimatu Abubakar emphasized the importance of informing citizens about government activities.

“After seven and a half years of the mandate given to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, we must update the public on what has been done,” Abubakar said.

She highlighted the significance of collaborating with key stakeholders to present progress in various municipalities and districts.

“We believe it is essential to show what the government has achieved over the period and provide real-time updates to the citizens,” Abubakar concluded.
