Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI Commends NPP for Support to Avenor Region

Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, the President of the Avenor Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of Avenor has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for granting the area a Traditional Council status among others.

He indicated that the relationship of the Avenor Traditional Council with the NPP had been very cordial since its inauguration by the NPP through Mr Kofi Dzameshie, the then Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister.

Togbe Dorglo Anumah made the remarks at the Akatsi College of Education where members of the Avenor Traditional Council and other chiefs and queen mothers from the area had met Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential candidate and Flag bearer of the NPP, as part of his campaign tour to the Volta Region.

“The NPP has also elevated our area from a District to Municipal status, as well as bringing our fair share of government’s ‘District Road Improvement Project (DRIP),” which was commendable, he said.

Togbe Dorglo Anumah, however, called on the government to among others, expedite action to complete the stalled ‘Agenda 111 Project located at Adeheta, as well as the provision of traffic lights, a good road network, access to potable water, and a vehicle for the Traditional Council to aid movements of their chieftaincy activities.

“Our Agenda 111 project must be completed. Our prestigious and popular market in Volta located at Akatsi must see a major facelift to expand our economic activities for progress and growth,” he said.

He also prayed for God’s blessing for Dr Bawumia and his team throughout his campaign rounds.

Dr Bawumia, who was welcomed by a thunderous crowd at Akatsi, commended his supporters and the people of Akatsi South and beyond for the show of love on his second visit to the area.

He spoke about his vision for Ghana if given the mandate as the President and recounted the numerous achievements of the NPP government.

He however, urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to desist from confusing the good people of Ghana on the good policies and programmes outlined by the NPP government.

“When we brought Free SHS and others, they claimed they were impossible but what are we seeing now? We said it is possible, and we did it”.

Dr Bawumia assured the charged crowd that the NPP government under his leadership, would introduce new technologies to meet the changing trends in the global era.

“Ghana will move away from oil and gas to solar power to drive electricity. We will reduce the cost of electricity by 50 per cent when we go for solar power.

“Just as we delivered on the DRIP initiative, the agriculture sector will also see a similar facelift to boost our farmers to produce more. Under our digital drive focus, our youth will be employed and trained in Information Communication Technology,” he said.

He explained that his policies, ranging from health, education, digital growth, among others, when given the nod to be the next President of the Republic, would position the country on the right path of growth for the entire world to appreciate.

Dr Bawumia also touched on his vision to transform, modernise and make Ghana a prosperous country by mentioning some policies for Ghana’s next chapter including the infusion of technology into the agriculture value chain, setting up District Agriculture Mechanisation Centres across the country, tax amnesty, zero duty on the importation of solar panels, free tertiary education for persons living with disabilities, and expansion of educational infrastructure.

Others included repositioning Ghana’s education system towards Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), one student one laptop for tertiary students, easy passport acquisition with the GhanaCard, training of 1,000,000 youth, establishment of the Ghana Sports Secretariat, and credit score system.

Earlier, members of the clergy, Islamic clerics, and others were also interacted with the Presidential Candidate with discussions geared towards the growth of the area.

Accompanied by party executives including some former and current ministers, Dr Bawumia would tour the various constituencies in the Region.

Mr Mawuli Ocloo Egos, the Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Akatsi South was also introduced to supporters by Dr Bawumia, and he charged all to rally behind him for victory in the upcoming polls.

The two main political parties in Ghana have since embarked on intense political activities as the December 7 polls approaches.
