Award-winning actor Michael Ward has appeared in court as he faces allegations of rape and sexual assault relating to an incident said to have occurred in London in 2023.

The actor, known for his roles in Blue Story and Netflix’s Top Boy, denies the allegations.

The court heard that the alleged victim met Ward at a nightclub in north-east London and later accompanied him to a vehicle after he invited her to another location. Jurors were told that the woman had initially consented to some physical contact before the alleged offences were said to have taken place.

During a police interview played in court, the woman told officers she felt frightened and unable to respond during the alleged incident. She also described trying to leave the vehicle, according to evidence presented during the trial.
