U.S. President Donald Trump will present the FIFA World Cup trophy to the winning team at the 2026 final in New York New Jersey, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed.
Speaking on the “Fox and Friends” television programme on Tuesday, Infantino revealed that he and Trump would jointly hand over football’s most prestigious prize after the tournament’s showpiece event on July 19.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.
The announcement further highlights the growing relationship between the FIFA chief and the U.S. president. In December, Infantino presented Trump with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during a high-profile ceremony.
Trump has increasingly appeared at major sporting events in recent years. He attracted mixed reactions during the Club World Cup final when he joined Chelsea players on the podium during their trophy celebrations in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The 2026 World Cup is currently being staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The New York New Jersey Stadium will host the tournament final, serving as the venue for one of the competition’s most anticipated matches.
