TTU elects Tijani Ahmed as new SRC President

Tijani Ahmed, a Level 300 Mechanical Engineering student of Takoradi Technical University, TTU, has been elected President of the Students’ Representative Council of the University.

He was declared winner after he secured 1,697 votes of out of the total 4,979 votes cast, beating three other contenders in a competitive election, where Abdul Hafiz Ibrahim, placed second with 1,345 votes.

Ahmed, together with his Vice President, Marvellous Wagner, who was on his ticket, will for the next academic year steer the affairs of TTU students.

Prior to contesting, Ahmed was the Legal Chairman for the University Hall.

For the other positions, Jude Dadzie won the SRC Treasurer position with 2,596 against his only contender, Emmanuel Gyasi who also secured 2,290 votes.

Emmanuel Arhinful also won the TTU GNUTS Ambassador position with 2,652 votes against Dennis Arhin who only managed 2,246 votes.

The SRC Womens’ Commissioner position was also won by Gloria Awuku with 2,920 votes whiles her competitor, Pearl Aku Botchway obtained 1,967 votes.

The Private Hostels Coordinator position was however won with 3,346 votes by Joseph Offoe, against Francis Amoh who secured 1,569 votes.

Esther Abban was also elected as the new SRC Public Relations Officer with 2,722 votes against Ishmael Kabu, who came second with 2,166 votes.
