The United States Embassy in Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, will host FIFA World Cup watch parties across all 16 regions of the country during the 2026 tournament.

The initiative was announced by Matthew Asada, Acting Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, who said the programme is designed to bring the excitement of the World Cup closer to Ghanaian fans. The project draws a symbolic connection between Ghana’s 16 regions and the 16 host cities spread across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The first watch party is scheduled to take place at the National Stadium in Accra next Friday, coinciding with the United States’ opening match of the tournament. Similar events will then be rolled out across the remaining regions throughout the competition.

Asada also revealed that Ghanaian supporters with FIFA match tickets can now secure interview appointments at the U.S. Embassy, making it easier for fans planning to travel to the United States for World Cup matches.

The initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen sporting ties and ensure Ghanaian fans remain closely connected to the global football spectacle despite the distance.
