UK rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has been found not guilty on three rape charges by a jury in Western Australia, following a trial linked to an alleged incident after a nightclub performance in Perth in 2024. The entertainer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was also acquitted of one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and a charge of strangulation.
The jury, however, convicted Barrientos on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three additional rape charges, leaving prosecutors to decide whether those counts will proceed to a retrial. Local media reported that Barrientos became emotional as the verdicts were read in court.
The case centered on allegations made by a 20-year-old woman, who said she was assaulted in Barrientos’ hotel room after attending his performance in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth. Barrientos denied any non-consensual sexual conduct and testified that the encounter between them had been consensual. He acknowledged biting the woman, describing it in court as a “love bite,” but denied that she repeatedly told him to stop.
During closing arguments, prosecutors argued that Barrientos had abused his position as a public figure, while his defense team maintained that the complainant’s account contained significant inconsistencies. Barrientos remains on bail until Aug. 21, when the court is expected to set a sentencing date for the assault convictions.
