UPSA launches 60th anniversary celebration of academic excellence

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has launched its 60th anniversary celebration with a year long activities such as lectures, health talk, stakeholders’ engagements, sales of anniversary souvenirs, donation, health walk, fun games, community service initiatives,
Industry breakfast meetings, technology exhibitions, career fair, research expositions among others.

The occasion was also used to unveil the official logo of the anniversary with Mr. Bismark Osei Agyeman winning the ultimate logo design of a keenly competition from a whooping 70 entries.

Speaking at the media launch under the theme, “Six Decades of Transformative Education: Empowering Africa’s Future Business Leaders”, in Accra, the Chancellor of UPSA, Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong expressed his gratitude to the management of the university for the rapid transformation of academic and infrastructure.

He said, the anniversary has created a platform for the university to honor past and present stakeholders of the successful milestone of the institution saying it started as modest body and have grown into a leading academic university.

According to him, the strategic leadership drive of the university will continue to play a pivotal role in spearheading professionalism and technological growth and thus called on alumni and students to exhibit good ambassadors in their respective fields of working endeavors.

Chairman of the University Council of UPSA, Dr Harry Agbanu said the institute continue to remain a public university that integrates academic degrees and academic qualifications that prepared leaders to excel in their working juridictions.

Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Prof John Kwaku Mawutor said the institutions 60th anniversary will enhance academic excellence and however urged all alumni and students to uphold the virtues and values of the university.

Founder of UPSA, Nana Opoku Ampomah 1, in a speech read on his behalf by Mr. Osei Ampomah commended the management of the university for impacting knowledge and producing professionals in driving the country towards socio economic growth and development.
