On the road to success, there is always one thing that people heel on to get a breakthrough.

For legendary Ghanaian stand-up comedian KSM, lying was a prerequisite for his success as a radio presenter.

KSM, who is known for his quick wit and sharp humor, divulged that he lied about having experience in radio when he first applied for a job at Vibe FM in Ghana in 1996.

“While I was in the USA, I was a big fan of top radio,I listened to it so much that I felt like I had been trained.”He opined

When he returned to Ghana, public radio was just starting to become popular. Vibe FM was one of the first stations to launch, and KSM was eager to get a job there.

“I met with the owner of the station, Michael Cooke,he asked me if I had any experience in radio, and I lied and said yes.”

One of the questions Cooke asked was, “What do you think about radio presenters and radio shows?”

KSM responded, “There is nothing like a dull program but a dull presenter.” Cooke was impressed by KSM’s answer and gave him the job.

In his usual humorous way, the “Afia Sorebour” comic actor asked Ghanaians to forgive him for lying.

“Ghanaians, please forgive me,” he said. “I’m not proud of the fact that I lied, but I’m glad that it worked out in my favour.”

Known in real life as Kwaku Sintim-Misa, KSM who made these astonishing revelations on Citi TV’s entertainment and Lifestyle show, ‘Upside Down’- hosted by Frema Adunyame and Nana Tuffour  also said that he was grateful to Cooke for giving him a chance, even though he had lied.

Ghana Weekend’s Take

KSM’s story shows that sometimes, lying can be a stepping stone to success. However, it is important to remember that lying is not always the best way to achieve your goals.

In KSM’s case, he was able to get away with his lie because he was confident and had the skills to back it up. If you are considering lying to get ahead, it is important to weigh the risks and rewards carefully.
