On August 8, 2024, the lively community of Akosombo came together to mark the 60th anniversary of VRA Health Services Limited, an essential institution that has been a beacon of hope and healthcare in the region since its founding.
The event, which saw the participation of key figures from the community and government, featured a sod-cutting ceremony for a new NICU and Pediatric Ward, further cementing the facility’s status as a cornerstone of the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
Reflecting on the hospital’s history, Dr. Kwabena Omari Yeboah, the Medical Director, spoke about its growth from a modest infirmary into a leading healthcare provider with a significant impact.
“Our dedication to quality healthcare has never wavered, and today we celebrate the community that has stood by us on this journey,” Dr. Yeboah said.
VRA Board Chairperson Mr. Kofi Tutu Agyare highlighted the long-standing partnership between VRA Health Services and the local community, emphasizing the shared growth and success over the years. “This celebration is as much about our community as it is about us,” he remarked.
Herbert Krapa, Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, commended the hospital’s leadership and its contributions to national healthcare, noting its evolution into a facility that now competes on a national level.
“As VRA Health Services reaches this important milestone, the community eagerly anticipates the ongoing expansion and enhancement of services that will continue to benefit the region’s health and well-being for many years to come,” Krapa added.
