Black Queens goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan believes Ghanas defence has the ability to contain Malawis dangerous Chawinga sisters when the teams meet in the WAFCON 2026 quarter-finals on Sunday.Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga have been among Malawis most influential players at the tournament, combining for five goals during the group stage as the Scorchers topped Group C.Their form has made them one of Ghanas biggest concerns ahead of the decisive encounter, but Konlan insists the Black Queens are prepared to deal with their threat.Ghana advanced to the last eight after finishing second in Group D following a 1-1 draw with Mali.Malawi, meanwhile, booked their quarter-final place by topping a group that included defending champions Nigeria, whom they defeated in a major upset.Konlan acknowledged the quality within Malawis squad but believes effective communication can help Ghanas defence keep their attacking stars under control.Malawi have good players, world-class players but we know how to handle them at the back. We only need to communicate effectively.Ghanas defence will be under pressure to remain organised throughout the contest, particularly when the Chawingas receive space to run behind the backline.The Black Queens defeated Malawi 4-0 in a pre-tournament friendly, but Konlan knows Sundays knockout clash will present a different challenge.Victory would take Ghana into the semi-finals and guarantee their return to the FIFA Womens World Cup for the first time since 2007.
