Ghanaian walking artist GlennSamm recounted his difficult time in police custody after being arrested during the ‘StopGalamseyNow’ protest. In an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, he revealed that he spent 16 days in police custody and went without food for the first two days due to the poor quality of the meals provided.

He further explained that he spent a total of 16 days in custody and was moved between three different police cells in Accra. One of the most challenging locations was the Teshie Police Station, where he was crammed into a tiny cell with 27 other detainees. He described the poor sanitation and overcrowded conditions, saying, “The cell was so small, and there was no ventilation. To get fresh air, you had to stick your head into a tiny space.”

GlennSamm also recalled having to stand for 24 hours upon his arrival at the Teshie station, which left him with a muscle pull. He noted, “I arrived at Teshie Police Station around 11 a.m. and had to stand for 24 hours.”

GlennSamm was arrested while sitting at a bus stop near the El Wak Sports Stadium, even though the protest had not officially begun. He suggested that the police might have been targeting specific individuals and believes he was picked up because of his appearance.
