Community Interventions Waste Landfills Company Limited has announced a package of community interventions for Adipa and surrounding communities following concerns over waste disposal activities at the Adipa Engineered Landfill Site.

The announcement followed a stakeholder engagement convened on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, by the Aburihene and Adontenhene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Otubour Gyan Kwasi.

The meeting brought together traditional authorities, local government officials, community representatives, and the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

Residents had earlier raised environmental and public health concerns over the transportation of waste from parts of Accra to the Adipa site, and called for greater consultation.

Otubour Gyan Kwasi explained that the engagement was convened to establish a committee to find lasting solutions to the concerns.

He stressed the need to document all commitments to ensure implementation, and urged residents to participate in health interventions including periodic screening exercises.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, acknowledged the concerns and assured residents of continued engagement.He announced interventions including the construction of a health centre, a water project, community-wide fumigation exercises and periodic health screening.

He also pledged scholarship support for beneficiaries from the eight affected communities to study in Russia, with additional assistance to be considered based on community needs.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who is also Minority Chief Whip, welcomed the dialogue and commended Dr. Agyepong for directly engaging residents. He reiterated the importance of consulting traditional authorities, assemblies and residents before major waste-management interventions that affect host communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Philibert Selorm Fummey, commended the interventions and appealed for a waste treatment facility in the municipality to add value to waste and create jobs.

The MCE for Akuapem South, Paul Osae Offei, described the engagement as a sign of stakeholders’ readiness to collaborate, and called for cooperation between the two municipalities to ensure residents benefit.

To ensure accountability, a 17-member committee chaired by the Chief of Nsawam, Nana Kofi Sarh, and including Dr. Agyepong, has been constituted to oversee implementation of the agreed interventions.
