The Chief Imam of Gomoa Akyeampem in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, Sheikh Ayuba Mohammed has advised Ghanaians to see themselves as one people, irrespective of their religious background, and not allow politics to divide them.

He gave this advice when he presented a cash amount of One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000.00) and a ram on behalf of the Muslim community in the area towards the installation and swearing-in of the new chief of Gomoa Tarkwa, Nana Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII, over the weekend.

Speaking with News Ghana after the presentation, Sheik Ayuba noted that democracy, and for that matter politics is just a means of sharing one’s ideology, and not a means of creating enemies, and has therefore warned political leaders to desist from the campaign of insults and negative comments against their political opponents.

According to him, such insults and negative comments, if not checked, could generate violence, especially, at a time when the country is going into a major election.

He later advised the electorate to reject politicians who attempt to influence people to cause violence to achieve parochial interest.
