Ghanaian gospel musician Nana Yao Boakye, popularly known as MOG, recently shared a heart-wrenching experience on “Just Being Us” with MzGee. He revealed the painful ordeal of having to transport the body of his lifeless seven-month-old baby at night while searching for a mortuary.
“We were ready to leave, but the doctor told us the hospital couldn’t keep the baby’s body. We were given a box with the baby inside and had to drive around looking for a place to bury him,” MOG shared with deep sorrow.
Once they arrived home, MOG handed the car over to his mother, who took the baby to a mortuary, where a death certificate was issued before they could proceed with the burial.
After laying the baby to rest, MOG faced the heartbreaking task of explaining to family and friends why the baby was no longer with them. “It was so hard to deal with,” he said. “At seven months, everyone could see my wife was pregnant, and they were all waiting for the baby’s arrival. But instead, we had to share the news of our loss. My work as a musician meant that everyone knew we were expecting, and that made it even more painful.”
