A throwback video of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II revealing some secrets of the Ashanti empire has settled a heated social media debate.
Otumfuo in the video revealed that in the past, Asantes used to bring in Northerners to have intercourse with their women so they could have ‘real men’ to lead the tribe.
The video of the Asantehene making the admission settled a social media debate started by the influencer Twilight on X (formerly Twitter), amidst a hot tribal battle.
He tweeted that Asantes were originally short and imported Northerners to make them tall, writing; “The Original Asantes were very short and bIack so they brought Northerners who were giants who they called Dogo to come cross dema women to bring tall children so every tall Ashanti you see has Northern roots,”
