Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is looking forward to facing England as the Black Stars continue preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L encounter.
The experienced midfielder is expected to be available for the clash at Gillette Stadium after missing Ghana’s opening match against Panama in Canada due to entry restrictions.
Speaking ahead of the game, Partey expressed his excitement about taking on one of the tournament favourites and testing himself against some of the world’s best players.
“Yeah, I’m really happy to see them again. I hope they’re going to bring their best and try to give ourselves also the opportunity to play against the best and try to compete and enjoy the game,” he said.
Ghana head into the contest full of confidence after opening their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama, courtesy of a late goal from Caleb Yirenkyi.
England also made a winning start to the tournament, defeating Croatia 4-2 to put themselves in a strong position in Group L.
Partey also highlighted the importance of mental strength as players prepare for the demands of competing on football’s biggest stage.
“Well, by training, I think everything is mental. You have to be ready for whatever. The minute that your body can go through, you just give your best, and that’s it,” he added.
With a place in the knockout stage potentially at stake, Partey and his teammates will be eager to produce another strong performance when they face the Three Lions on June 23.
