Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has reassured his government’s commitment to ensure fiscal discipline and responsible spending, ahead of the 2024 polls.
According to him, the government will ensure that the economic policies outlined in the 2024 budget remain on track despite the upcoming 2024 elections.
“The government aims to maintain financial stability and sustain growth by tightening expenditures and avoiding policy slippages,” He added.
Addressing some journalists during a joint press conference by the Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday, July 1, 2024, Dr. Adam explained, “Although 2024 is an election year, we are committed to enhancing domestic revenue mobilization and tightening expenditure commitment controls to avoid policy slippages.”
The Finance Minister further expressed the government’s commitment to sustaining macroeconomic policy adjustment to achieve a comprehensive restoration of macroeconomic stability and foster a resilient and robust economy for sustainable growth and development.
“We are committed to sustaining our macroeconomic policy adjustment and reforms to fully restore macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability while fostering a sustainable increase in economic growth and poverty reduction,” he assured.
