The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to Ghanaians to elect him over former President John Mahama, whom he dubbed a “second-hand president.”

He says voting for him represents fresh ideas and a new perspective, contrasting his leadership with Mahama’s, which he sees as stale and ineffective.

He was addressing a rally in Kamgbunli in the Ellembelle District, on day two of his four-day tour of the Western Region.

At the rally, Dr. Bawumia said a vote for him brings “a brand-new tear rubber President”, while a vote for the former president gets “a home-used secondhand President.”

“So, I ask you, would you prefer something new and innovative, or something tried and failed? If it’s the former, then choose me, Mahamudu Bawumia, and the NPP parliamentary candidates – we’re conveniently listed as number one on the ballot paper”.

He emphasized his transformative approach to leadership, showcasing his achievements as Vice President, including implementing 33 policies

Dr. Bawumia also stressed his economic expertise, particularly in digitalizing the economy, which has enhanced government service efficiency and boosted revenue collection

Meanwhile, the NPP parliamentary candidate and District Chief Executive for Ellembele, Kwasi Bonzoh has urged his constituents to vote for change.

He noted that after 16 years under NDC’s Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the constituency has seen no development.

“For 16 years, our MP has held ministerial positions, including Deputy Minority Leader, yet our community has seen no tangible benefits. This year, we’re poised to elect our first NPP MP in Ellembelle Constituency. With President Bawumia at the helm, we need a parliamentary majority to support his vision. That’s why I’m appealing to you for the fourth time. After three previous attempts, I’m confident that this time, you’ll propel me to parliament,” Mr Bonzoh stated.

At a stakeholders’ engagement at the Atuabo Chief’s Palace, President of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli, praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his dedication to digitalization and urged for the establishment of STEM education in the Nzema enclave, in recognition of the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in driving innovation and progress.

“Many are asking, ‘Where is ours?’ when it comes to STEM education, as there is none in our area. We humbly appeal to you to consider establishing at least one STEM institution in Jomoro, given the presence of the Petroleum Hub here. With several junior high schools in the area, STEM education would greatly benefit the Nzema enclave and Western Region as a whole”.
