Capital projects started across the country will be temporarily dislocated but will certainly be completed after the country is done with the staff level agreement with the IMF, says President Akufo-Addo.
In an interaction at the Jubilee House with the Western Regional House of Chiefs, the President assured them that road projects in the region will be given the needed attention since their contribution to the nation’s development cannot be overlooked.
The best, they say, comes from the West and in the case of Ghana, a substantial portion of the country’s mineral resources are from the Western region.
And for the Western regional house of chiefs, there was no better time to call on the President to exchange ideas than at this time, when discourse is running rife about the domestic debt exchange.
The Chiefs urged the government to deploy his team to every part of the country to explain the rationale behind the domestic debt exchange and its impact on stabilizing the economy.
They appealed to the President to expedite action on roads under construction in the region.
President Akufo-Addo thanked the Chiefs for their support over the years and assured them that critical projects underway in the region will not be abandoned.
President Akufo-Addo was upbeat that sooner than later the economy will bounce back to ease pressure on the local currency and create fiscal space.
