Nigeria (Abuja) – A young man identified as Musa has been arrested for unaliving his mother, Nana, following a dispute over money.

According to reports, the suspect had been demanding access to 40 million naira left for him by his late father. Musa reportedly intended to use the money to fund a business trip to Canada.

However, his mother is said to have refused to release the funds, citing concerns about his readiness to manage such a large amount, as well as alleged issues with extravagant spending and substance use.

In a fit of anger, Musa attacked and unalived his mother on Monday night. He is said to have left her body in her room and continued his daily routine as though nothing had happened.

Reports indicate that he would leave the house in his mother’s car to spend time with friends and return home, passing the body before going to sleep.

The incident came to light on Wednesday when neighbours began to notice a foul odour emanating from the house. They alerted authorities, prompting officers to visit the residence.

Police reportedly waited at the scene after finding the suspect absent. He was later arrested upon returning home, allegedly driving his mother’s car while carrying food.

Upon entering the house, officers discovered the decomposing body of the deceased.

The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by the Department of State Services as investigations into the case continue.

The deceased, described as a devoted mother, has since been laid to rest at the National Mosque Abuja.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread shock and condemnation, with many expressing grief over the circumstances surrounding the death, particularly given that the suspect was reportedly her only child.
