Black Stars player Iñaki Williams has celebrated his younger brother Nico Williams following Spain’s victory at the just-ended FIFA World Cup.
The footballer took to social media on Monday, July 20, to share a photo of Nico holding the World Cup trophy and praised his brother’s historic achievement while reflecting on the significance of the moment for immigrant families around the world.
Iñaki congratulated Nico for reaching football’s highest stage and becoming a world champion with Spain. He noted that his brother’s success has brought pride to millions of immigrants, including families like theirs, who hope to see future generations achieve great things despite the sacrifices made by their parents.
According to Iñaki, their journey represents the experiences of many people who leave everything behind in search of a better future.
“Brother, you’ve won the World Cup. You’ve made history. But beyond the trophy, thank you for this: you’ve made millions of immigrants like our parents feel proud that their future children might one day live what you’ve lived, and that millions of Spaniards empathise with our story, which isn’t just ours but that of all the people who leave everything behind for a better future,” he wrote.

Iñaki added that Nico had “touched the sky with his fingertips” and proved that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
The Ghana international also expressed pride in their family name, saying Nico’s World Cup success had taken it to new heights.
