The 2024 Presidential aspirant for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has disclosed that, he refused to go independent, although there were so many people who advised him to do so, after he lost the Presidential Primaries to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to the boisterous Politician, he is not selfish in nature, hence, the decision to go independent to be voted as President is not a venture he is carved to go into. He was making this statement during his birthday celebration where the National Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ntim was present.

Addressing his audience, Mr. Agyapong said, “I have not resigned from the party. I am not going independent. I am still an NPP member, and you know, once I’m a party member no matters what happened during the primaries, I think we are all party people and it will be best for all of us to come together. So I’m pleading with my supporters, let us use my birthday to reconcile.”

Posting on his official X page on Tuesday, June 18, Mr. Agyapong said, “As a dedicated member of the party, regardless of the outcome of the Presidential primaries, I believe it is crucial for us to unite and support our party. I encourage my supporters to use my birthday as an opportunity for reconciliation and solidarity.”

The Assin North lawmaker further called on the supporters of the Vice President to stop intimidating his supporters in order to have a united front in the upcoming December 7 polls.

“We have finished the primaries. The Vice President has won. So there is no Kennedy Agyapong supporters and Vice President supporters. We are all NPP supporters. If you know me, I’m not selfish. People have come to me several times, go independent. I think it is not a wise thing to do. Therefore I refused to do that. So I’m pleading with the supporters to come together so that we can have a united front ahead of the elections.”
