All outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens have been dutifully paid, calming down any situational concerns ahead of the game against the Copper Queens of Zambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, February 23, 2024.

The players reportedly considered boycotting the game if their concerns weren’t addressed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association. The Black Queens were owed an amount of $7500 each.

Officials of both the Ministry and the FA visited the team camp on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, to assure the girls that their bonuses would be settled before they even kicked off their game against Zambia.

Following this assurance, the team’s bonuses were quickly paid on Thursday, February 22, 2024, to calm tensions in the camp ahead of the crucial clash on Friday, February 23, 2024, to secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Black Queens have been outstanding in all their matches played under coach Nora Hauptle, having lost only one game in their last 11 matches. However, they will have to answer tough questions from a formidable Zambian side that has the world’s most expensive player in women’s football, Racheal Kundananji, in their ranks.

Fans will be expected to turn in their numbers to rally their support behind the Black Queens, as the entrance fee to the stadium will be free.

A victory for the Black Queens on Friday will see them hold a huge advantage heading into the second leg in Zambia in order to secure a spot in the final qualifying round.
