Ghana’s Under-15 girls’ national team has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship after consecutive victories over Morocco and Benin at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The team, under the guidance of head coach Joyce Boatey-Agyei, began their campaign on Wednesday with a 1-0 win against Morocco, courtesy of a second-half goal by midfielder Jennifer Awuku.

They followed up today with a commanding 2-0 victory over Benin, securing a total of six points that automatically qualify them for the next stage.

The goal scorers were Christiana Ashiaku and Belinda Kpentey.

The head coach in a post-match interview stressed the importance of self-reflection and confidence-building among her players. “We encouraged the girls to identify their own mistakes and discuss how to improve. This approach helps them take ownership of their development,” she noted. “We also reminded them to believe in themselves and stay focused, regardless of the results.”

Despite already securing a semi-final berth, the coach revealed that the team remains committed to maintaining their momentum. “We’re not going to be distracted. We will keep our focus and not take things for granted,” she added.

Christiana Ashiaku, who has been instrumental in the team’s success, expressed confidence in their ultimate goal: “We’re keeping the trophy”, she said.

Ghana will face Malawi in their final group match, aiming to complete the group stage with a perfect record of 9 points.
