The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the qualified teams for the 2026/27 Womens FA Cup, formally launching the route to the final of Ghanas leading womens knockout competition.

The tournament brings together clubs from the Womens Premier League, the Womens Division One League and the Regional Womens Leagues. It remains a central part of the GFAs efforts to develop and promote womens football, giving teams the chance to compete for national honours.

A large entry from across Ghana has been recorded for this seasons competition, reflecting the increasing interest in and competitiveness of the womens game.

For the opening stages, the clubs have been split into Southern and Northern Zones. The arrangement is intended to maintain regional balance and limit travel before the competition reaches its nationwide phase.

The Southern Zone includes teams from the Eastern, Central, Volta, Greater Accra and Western Regions. Clubs from those areas will compete for the opportunity to advance to the national round.

The Northern Zone features teams from the Upper East, Brong Ahafo, Upper West, Northern and Ashanti Regions.

The competition will start with zonal qualifiers, with clubs facing opponents from within their respective zones. The teams that progress will move into the Round of 32, when the Womens FA Cup becomes a national knockout competition.

The remaining sides will then continue through the tournament until the final determines the champions of the 2026/27 season.

As well as providing a route to silverware, the competition offers national team coaches an important opportunity to identify emerging talent. It also allows lower-tier clubs to measure themselves against opposition from the top flight.

The GFA is expected to announce the fixtures, venues and dates for the preliminary matches and the Round of 32 in due course.
