Debibi United Chief Executive Officer Alexander Ababio has launched a strong response to Bibiani GoldStars coach Petros Koukouras, describing his criticism of the clubs playing surface as reckless and unreasonable.Koukouras questioned the condition of the Debibi Presby Park after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Premier League newcomers in their Matchday 7 fixture of the 2026/27 season. The Greek tactician controversially suggested the pitch was more suitable for cassava farming than football, prompting a sharp reaction from Ababio.Speaking to Nhyira FM, the Debibi United chief executive questioned the coachs comparison and criticised his choice of words. If thats how they grow cassava in his country [Greece], then I dont know how they feed them, Ababio said.He should think about his job and stop saying nonsense. It was a reckless and unreasonable statement, he added. The exchange has renewed discussions about the condition of playing surfaces in the Ghana Premier League, with Koukouras among several foreign coaches to have raised concerns about pitch standards.Meanwhile, Ababio says Debibi United remain focused on securing their top-flight status despite a difficult start to their maiden Premier League campaign. The newcomers have collected seven points from eight matches and sit among the bottom three ahead of Sunday’s home encounter against Hearts of Oak.”Our target is to remain in the league despite our poor start to the season, he said.
