Ghanaian footballer Inaki Williams played a crucial match for Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night, where his team defeated Barcelona in the Copa del Rey tie.
Inaki, who had a tough time playing for the Black Stars and caused a goal in the team’s match against Egypt at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, scored the winning goal for Bilbao after coming off the bench.
Following the game, the Black Stars’ forward shared his excitement on social media, saying, “A door closed and a window opened. Reality surpasses fiction. Destiny is destiny. Thank you, Lord. Day of glory.”
The Black Stars have been eliminated from the AFCON. Meaning Ghana has now failed to make it to the knockout stage of the continental showpiece for the second time running having last suffered early elimination in AFCON 2021 held in Cameroon.
The West Africa powerhouse drew two games at the Nations Cup, finishing in third place in Group B, behind Cape Verde and Egypt while Athletico Bilbao has qualified for the finals of the Copa del Rey.
