The Spintex Knights (The Nobles), champions of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Division 1, have announced their intention to concentrate on the more important Basketball African League (BAL) arena, exuding a sense of success and unflinching resolve.
Key members of the Knights fervently expressed their desire to represent Ghana in basketball throughout the continent during a news conference held at the Jobyco Hotel in Spintex, Accra.
Dr. Eric Opoku Antwi, a confident co-founder, shared details of the team’s life-changing experience.
“Our progression from Division 2 obscurity to clinching the ABL Division 1 title has been remarkable. However, our ultimate goal has always been to pave the way as the first Ghanaian representatives in the Basketball African League.”
Coach Selorm Thomas, buoyed by the team’s success, emphasized the upcoming challenge. “For us as a brand or a team, we take every success very seriously. We want everyone to understand that Spintex Knights is here to stay. And with the regulations set by the Ghana Basketball Association, we believe we are ready to represent Ghana at the Basketball African League.”
The Nobles’ decisive victory over the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Braves, the reigning champions, sparked their quest for a BAL spot. With a perfect record of 22 games played without a loss all season, they won the Greater Accra Basketball League Men’s Division 1 championship with a decisive 74-40 victory in the series.
Captain Elvis Pobi Asiaw, while acknowledging the team’s success, underlined their collective determination.
