The Accra Girls’ Senior High School (AGISS) has successfully celebrated its 65th Anniversary, with year groups of old students (AGOSA) leading a memorable lineup of activities that blended philanthropy, fun, and thanksgiving.

Spearheaded by the 1975, 1995, 2005, and 2015 year groups, the celebrations highlighted the strong bond between past and present students and the spirit of giving back to their Alma Mater.

As part of their legacy projects, the year groups renovated the school’s washrooms, constructed a new walkway, and donated chairs, among other items, to support teaching and learning in the school.

The celebrations began with a soft launch on Friday, June 27, 2025, setting the tone for months of activities that kept both old and current students engaged.

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, a Skills Training, Career and Mentorship Fair was held to inspire and guide students toward career excellence.

September was the busiest month of the celebrations. On Saturday, September 13, hundreds of students and alumni participated in an Anniversary Walk, Aerobics, Health Screening, and Entrepreneurship Fair, creating a lively blend of fitness, wellness, and innovation. The following week, on Wednesday, September 17, the spotlight shifted to the Legacy Project Joint Handing Over Ceremony, where AGOSA officially presented their renovation and donation works to the school.

In line with promoting social responsibility, Monday, September 22 was dedicated to Menstrual Hygiene Education and Distribution of Sanitary Pads, equipping students with essential knowledge and support.

The festivities picked up tempo on Friday, September 26 with an Akwaaba Karaoke, Records, and Bonfire Night, which drew excitement and rekindled nostalgic memories of school days.

The climax of the week came on Saturday, September 27, with the prestigious AGISS Speech and Prize-Giving Day, celebrating outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements of students.

Finally, the celebrations were wrapped up beautifully on Sunday, September 28, 2025, with a Thanksgiving and Form 3S Induction Service, a symbolic moment that not only expressed gratitude but also ushered a new group of students into leadership roles.

Throughout the three-month-long celebration, alumni reconnected, shared memories, and demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the growth of AGISS. The 65th Anniversary was not just a celebration of history and tradition, but also a launchpad for renewed partnerships between old students and the school.

With the resounding success of this year’s milestone, AGISS has once again shown why its motto—“Aim High!”—continues to inspire generations of women determined to make a difference.

AGISS! Aim High!! AGOSA! Progress!!
