Ghana Premier League giants, Accra Hearts of Oak has announced on all its social media platforms that the board leading the team’s day-to-day activities has been dissolved with immediate effect.

The decision, coincidentally follows comments made by Hearts of Oak new coach, Aboubakar Ouattara in their win against Real Tamale on Sunday 25th February 2024. The coach stated that Hearts of Oak deserves to be at the top but some people are not allowing that happen.

The board, consisting of eleven members – Togbe Afede XIV, Frank Nelson, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamaloe, Prof. Kofi Kumado, Ivy Heyward-Mills, Alhaji Alhassan Andani, Thomas Kwesi Esso, Eric Barimah-Atuahene, Alhaji Imoro Briamah, Vincent Sowah Odotei, and Frederick Moore, has been disbanded.

Although the statement released on social media did not specify the reasons behind this decision, it is believed that the bold step taken by the Board chairman of the team, Togbe Afede, outlines his eagerness to revive Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Accra-based team and one of Africa’s top clubs has been struggling for sometime now and has failed to show consistency since winning the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup in 2021.

Their gradual struggles have seen them miss Africa on numerous occasions as they seek to reclaim their glorious days as one of the best teams on the African continent.
