The Accra West District Football Association Colts league match day eight (8) was filled with exciting matches and standout performances from young talents.

DANSOMAN LEEDS UNITED U17 VRS GREAT SOMAS U17
The highly anticipated clash between long-standing rivals Dansoman Leeds United and Great Somas lived up to its billing. Both teams stood level on points in the U17 league table for Zone 1, adding an extra layer of intensity to this already fierce rivalry.
From the kick-off, it was evident that neither side was willing to give an inch. The midfield battle was intense, with both teams showcasing their skill and determination. Both teams created decent chances in the early stage of the first half but squandered them all until in the 26th minute of the game when Daniel Agazu of Dansoman Leeds United mistakenly gave a back pass to Ali Faizu of Great Somas who brilliantly shot the ball, from about 35yards, into the yawning net of Dansoman Leeds United for the first goal of the match for Great Somas.
Just seven minutes after the first goal, Tawou Issomiala of Dansoman Leeds United got the equalizer by heading the ball into the net upon receiving a brilliant cross from Emmanuel Ofori to bring the game level.
In the second half, both teams raised their game and exhibited beautiful football to the admiration of the teeming supporters. However, all the beautiful football did not materialize into goals till the Referee whistled for the end of the match leading to the need for a penalty shootout to separate the two combatants, per new guidelines from the National Juvenile Football Committee.
Dansoman Leeds United emerged victorious after winning the penalty shootout 6-5 and thus earning two points to sit on top of the Zone 1 U17 league table.
ACCRA YOUNG LIONS U17 VRS GREAT PADUA U17
The eagerly awaited match between Accra Young Lions and Great Padua was a thrilling encounter, Great Padua, sitting comfortably at the top of the league table in Zone 2 with an impressive unbeaten streak of 7 matches, showcased their dominance from the start.
The game began with Great Padua displaying their superior skill and teamwork, maintaining possession and creating several scoring opportunities.
Despite Accra Young Lions resilience and determination, they struggled to match the pace and precision of Great Padua ‘s play. The first half of the match ended goalless.
In the second half, Great Padua kept piling pressure on Accra Young Lions and in the 79th minuets, Great Padua’s pressure paid off, when striker Mugeed Idirisu was pushed by Evans Kwajya a defender of Accra Young Lions on a one on one situation in the 18-yard box:
Great Padua were awarded a penalty. Mugeed Idirisu of Great Padua calmly converted the penalty, securing the lead and ultimately the victory for his team.
Overall, it was a thrilling match that showcased the skill and determination of both teams. Great Padua’s victory further solidifies their position at the top of the Zone 2 U17 league table, while Accra Young Lions will look to bounce back stronger in their next fixture.
