Felix Afena-Gyan has expressed confidence in Amedspor’s promotion hopes despite their 2-2 draw with Ümraniyespor in the Turkish Lig 1.
The 23-year-old forward came off the bench in the 60th minute during the week 35 encounter at the Diyarbakır Stadyumu and played a key role in salvaging a point for his side. With Amedspor trailing late in the game, Afena-Gyan delivered a crucial assist deep into stoppage time, setting up Mbaye Diagne for the equaliser.
Ümraniyespor had taken an early lead through Batuhan Çelik in the 22nd minute, but Mehmet Yeşil responded six minutes later to level the score. The visitors regained the advantage in the 69th minute when Jurgen Bardhi found the net, putting them on course for victory before Amedspor’s late comeback.
After the match, Afena-Gyan took to social media platform X to encourage his teammates, stating: “The battle is the Lord’s… we can do it.”
Since joining on loan last summer, the Ghana international has contributed five goals and six assists in 32 appearances. Amedspor currently sit second in the league with 72 points, six behind leaders Erzurumspor FK, as they continue their push for promotion.
