Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has filed fresh defamation suits against National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) Chief Executive Eric Adjei and Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Chief Executive Sammy Gyamfi at the Accra High Court.

The new suit against Mr Adjei, numbered GJ/0061/2027, was filed hours after Mr Afenyo-Markin withdrew an earlier case against him at the Achimota Circuit Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. His lawyer, F. Paa Kwesi Abaidoo, said the new writ concerns alleged defamatory statements Mr Adjei made on Peace FM.

Mr Abaidoo informed the Circuit Court of the withdrawal. Mr Adjei’s lawyer, Gideon Koku Abotsi, confirmed it, and the presiding judge struck out the case as withdrawn. Mr Abotsi said the decision followed an appeal by a High Court judge for the parties to resolve their differences amicably outside court.

Mr Abaidoo said the withdrawal did not end the legal action, as a fresh writ had been filed at the High Court to pursue the substantive claim.

The separate suit against Mr Gyamfi, numbered GJ/0045/2027, was filed on October 15, 2026. It concerns alleged defamatory statements made during the Government Accountability Series and on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme, according to Mr Abaidoo.

The fresh filing follows the High Court’s decision to set aside an earlier writ against Mr Gyamfi because it was defective. Mr Abaidoo said his legal team disagreed with that decision but had filed the new writ in accordance with the court’s latest interpretation of the rules.

The dispute with Mr Gyamfi followed Mr Afenyo-Markin’s criticism of GoldBod over alleged losses of $1.9 billion under the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme. The dispute with Mr Adjei arose after he repeated allegations of extortion against Mr Afenyo-Markin.
