The family of a young Ghanaian lady, Mariama, have called out organisers of the annual music festival, Afrochella for abandoning her to die after suffering burns during last December’s event.

Mariama died after suffering debilitating burns from an explosion that occurred at Afrochella prior to the concert kicking off.

Yet, organisers have done little to help the family after her injury at the concert.

Family sources have complained bitterly over the aloofness from Afrochella when a young lady’s life has been needlessly lost.

The vendor manager who hired Mariama to work at the event reportedly showed up just once to see her at the hospital and left the family with Ghc 1,800 when they had already spent tens of thousands on her hospitalisation and treatment.

Afrochella organisers on their part have done zero and show no inclination to do so, even after the young lady’s death.

To date, the family spent close to Ghc 40,000 on Mariama’s hospitalisation until she died, with no help from concert organisers who oversaw the explosion that killed her.

Even a customary visit to show the least bit of care eluded sweet Mariama before her demise.

She [Miriam] died with lots of pain thinking about how you got an accident from someone’s event and even being employed by one of the organizers and they show no care,” a source told GhanaCelebrities.Com.

Mariama was a bubbly and industrious lady. Prior to her demise, she worked as an intern at Media General.

Her death was a tragedy but what is even worse is Afrochella’s reported negligence. It puts a huge stain on a brand that is supposed to be about promoting good vibes about Africa.

The annual Afrochella concert is organised by Kennedy Agyapong Jnr, son of Ghanaian lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, and Abdul Abdullah.
