The Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has applauded the vigilance of the military, which led to the uncovering of the plot to topple the government through violent means. He said the country could have been in turmoil if the military officers had not intervened.
Speaking after the conviction of the six persons for conspiracy to commit high treason.
Mr. Yeboah Dame cautioned against any attempts by persons to stage a coup, which he described as a serious offence. He also commended the Court for its meticulous handling of the trial.
The High Court in Accra on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, convicted six of the coup plotters on counts of conspiracy to commit high treason and committing high treason.
The court, however, acquitted ACP Agordzo, Colonel Samuel Kodzo Gameli, and one other junior military officer, Corporal Seidu Abubakar.
The six convicted for plotting a coup were sentenced to death by hanging.
