A member of the Council of Elders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized President Akufo-Addo and Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panyin regarding the controversial ‘Agyapadie Document.’

Benjamin Quashie, who is the Chair of the NDC’s Council of Elders in South Africa, Benjamin Quashie, strongly believes the document sheds light on state-capture agenda involving Akufo-Addo and his cronies.

He emphasized that dismissing the content of the document suggests awareness on the part of the mentioned leaders.

Mr. Quashie raised concerns about the possible prophetic insights of the author, disagreeing with the leaders’ denial.

He was speaking in an interview on Accra FM.

While acknowledging that not all individuals from the Akyem community should be judged based on the document, Mr. Quashie targeted the descendants of J.B. Danquah, such as Ken Ofori-Atta and Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, as examples of avaricious figures within the “Akyem Mafia”.

He clarified that there are also commendable individuals within the Akyem group.

Mr. Quashie during the interview also criticized Akufo-Addo for “attributing the document to his political opponents”, suggesting that financial activities, such as bank closures benefiting Data Bank, indicate ulterior motives.

He noted patterns in Akufo-Addo’s government favouring certain entities, pointing out a close relationship between insured services and businesses owned by figures like Ken Ofori-Atta.

Expressing concerns about the level of possible state capture under the current administration, Mr Quashie called for a thorough investigation and reorganization, drawing parallels to historical instances under leaders like Jacob Zuma in South Africa.

He anticipated corrective action upon a change in governance when President Mahama assumed the reins of government.
