Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has returned to first-team training at Rennes after being included in the French clubs squad for the Europa League.Seidu was expected to leave Rennes during the summer transfer window but remained at the club after a proposed move failed to materialise.The 26-year-old has, however, attracted interest from fellow Ligue 1 side Nice, who are considering using the joker rule to sign a new player following injuries to several key defenders.Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Seidu has now been registered for Rennes Europa League campaign and could be in contention for their opening fixture against Sturm Graz on Wednesday.Rennes travel to Austria for the Group Stage clash, scheduled for 21:00, with Franck Haises side aiming to progress beyond the winter stage of the competition.The French club have also made a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign and currently sit among the league leaders after four matches.Seidu is yet to make an appearance in Ligue 1 this season, but his return to first-team training provides a timely boost as he looks to regain his place in the squad.His situation will also be closely monitored in Ghana, with the Black Stars preparing for two important 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.Ghana are scheduled to face Cte dIvoire on September 24 before taking on The Gambia three days later on September 27.Seidus return to training and potential involvement in Rennes European campaign could therefore come at an important time for Otto Addo as he prepares his squad for the upcoming qualifiers.
