Ambolley challenges Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy to fuse Dancehall with Highlife

Legendary Ghanaian musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley has called on Ghanaian dancehall artists to fuse the genre with highlife music to create a unique Ghanaian sound.

Ambolley, who is known for his pioneering work in highlife music, said that while it is okay for Ghanaian artists to adopt foreign genres, they should also make an effort to make it their own.

“We are growing and different things will happen…Therefore, if we adopt dancehall and play it in our own way, in our highlife format, it will tell our brothers in Jamaica that we have our own style.”He revealed in an interview on Kingdom FM

He explained extensively that fusing dancehall with highlife would create a “new and exciting” sound that could be shared with the world.

“We must adopt it and play it in highlife….It will show that we also have something which can be shared with other parts of the world.” He added
