Popular Twitch streamer and internet personality Kai Cenat has returned to Lagos marking his second visit to Nigeria amid renewed focus on his long-promised school project.

Cenat touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, where he was greeted with a band performance that immediately sparked excitement across social media.

This visit comes nearly a year after his first trip, during which he pledged $5 million to build a school for children in Makoko, the waterfront community often described as Lagos’ floating slum.

Following that announcement, the project faced delays due to land acquisition and regulatory approvals in Makoko.

Because of the area’s unique floating structures, plans were later revised, with the school site relocated to Yaba, a more stable part of Lagos. Cenat has assured that children from Makoko will still receive free education once the school becomes operational.

Progress updates were shared during Mafiathon 3, where Cenat revealed that over $1 million has already been raised for the project.

He also outlined plans for phased spending and long-term sustainability, emphasising that the goal is to create a lasting institution rather than rush construction.

Cenat’s return has reignited enthusiasm among Nigerian fans, many hopeful that his presence signals renewed momentum for the project.

At the same time some online users remain skeptical, calling for visible on-ground progress and clearer timelines.

With Cenat now back in Lagos attention is once again focused on whether this second trip will translate into concrete steps toward fulfilling one of his most ambitious promises to date.
