Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has emphasised that Ghana’s history of producing prolific strikers was no accident, but rather the result of intentional teaching and practice.Speaking on World Cup Central on Channel One TV, Gyan explained that goal-scoring is a craft passed down through proper training. “That is how we came out with the act of goal scoring,” he said, referring to the development of Ghana’s attacking talents over the years.Gyan, who holds the record for most World Cup goals by an African player, insisted that finishing is not about luck or spiritual intervention. “It’s an act,” he repeated. “You have to just practice it.”This follows Ghana’s recent struggles to effectively replace the former Sunderland striker with Semenyo and Inaki Williams amongst others struggling to make a meaningful impact. The former Black Stars captain called on current handlers to groom young strikers properly, teaching them the fundamentals of goal scoring to ensure the next generation can replicate past success on the continent and the world stage.
