Ghana’s national teams ambassador Asamoah Gyan has paid a motivational visit to the Black Queens during their training session as the team steps up preparations for upcoming international assignments.

The former Black Stars captain spent time with the squad in Accra, offering encouragement and sharing his experience at the highest level of football as Ghana builds towards the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Black Queens were initially expected to feature in a three-nation tournament as part of their preparation programme, but the team has since withdrawn and will continue their build-up in camp at home.

Despite the change in plans, the Queens remain focused on their long-term objective of competing strongly at the continental showpiece in Morocco.

The 2026 WAFCON will be staged between July 26 and August 16, and Ghana will be aiming to re-establish themselves among Africa’s elite in women’s football.

Gyan’s presence is expected to serve as a morale boost for the players as they continue their preparations in Accra ahead of the tournament.
