The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman Badu II, has accused the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of being involved in the practice of illegal mining, commonly known as ‘galamsey’.
Speaking during a recent event at his palace, in which he addressed the chiefs and people of Bono, Nana Agyeman Badu II alleged that documents uncovered during a galamsey investigation implicated the Asantehene’s wife and by extension, the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom himself.
Agyeman Badu said a Joy News investigation into illegal mining in the country had implicated a company for mining an illegal concession. Dormaahene alleged that documents show that the company has Mrs. Julia Osei Tutu (née Amaning) as one of its founders/shareholders.
The Dormaa chief said this is definite proof that the Asantehene engages in galamsey, despite speaking out publicly many times against the menace.
Dormaahene is currently firing back following a few weeks of bad press, particularly in relation to the injury of Ghanaian media personality, Kofi Adoma Nwawani, who hails from the Bono region.
Adoma had gotten injured covering the 25th-anniversary festival of the Dormaahene’s ascension to the throne, yet the broadcaster, his wife, and those close to him allege the Dormaahene has done nothing to help him since the injury.
Dormaahene fired back at Kofi Adoma, alleging he was part of a propaganda ploy to tarnish the reputation of the Bono people and erase the glory from the 25th-anniversary festival.
Nana Agyeman Badu mentioned no names but heavily implied the plot emanates from the Asantes, which tracks why he went on to accuse the Asantehene of being engaged in galamsey.
