Baba Rahman is in line for a return to the Black Stars after being contacted by new coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Sources indicate that Queiroz has reached out to the left-back as part of efforts to strengthen his squad, with the coach seeking an early decision as he works within a tight preparation window.Rahman has not featured for Ghana since September 2023, when he played in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium. He subsequently stepped away from international football to focus on recovery and regain fitness at club level with PAOK.He also withdrew from the squad for the 2023 AFCON to prioritise his fitness following injury setbacks, a decision that came after facing criticism during his last appearance. The 31-year-old has made 52 appearances for Ghana between 2014 and 2023, scoring two goals, and remains one of the more experienced options in his position. He was also part of Ghanas squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, his last major tournament with the national team.Ghana will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia and England. With preparations underway, Queiroz is working to assemble a competitive squad, and Rahman could be included if he agrees to return and compete for a place.By Enoch Fiifi Forson
