The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday, March 1, 2024, ahead of the 13th African Games, which will be held in Ghana from March 8 to March 23.
With high anticipation for the big showpiece in Africa, Ghana is ready to display its sense of security and hospitality by welcoming all 54 countries that will be represented in the 13th edition of the African Games.
His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed his excitement and optimism about Ghana hosting the African Cup Games for the first time, considering the nation is a founding member of the games.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stated that although plans to host the games were a bit challenging, Ghana was keenly committed and determined to host the games for the first time in spite of its lack of sports facilities to accommodate this huge event on the African continent.
“As we gear up for the games in a few days, I urge the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to remain focused and give us a successful, problem-free competition that will reflect the investment and commitment we have shown so far,” said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also called on all fans of the African Games to throw their massive support towards the big showpiece and make it a success and a memorable one to cherish.
